The name David Jacob by Dapper honours two men across two generations. It carries the weight of what was given, and the responsibility of what is made. Every piece that leaves this house carries both names and both convictions with it.

The word has been stretched until it means almost nothing. Made-to-measure is not bespoke. Personalised lining is not bespoke. A last pulled from a shelf and slightly adjusted is not bespoke. True bespoke begins with your specifications and ends with a shoe that would not exist if you had not asked for it — made by hand, finished by eye, and carrying your name on the inside because it belongs to no one else.

The origin
A decade of building. One name to carry it all.
2013
Still Dapper Limited incorporated in the United Kingdom. The legal foundation for everything that follows. The conviction present from the first day.
2016
Solemate by Dapper begins trading. First bespoke shoes produced with an Italian manufacturing partner. The craft relationship — and the customer relationships — begin.
2019
Manufacturing migrates to Ubrique, Andalusia — the craft capital of European leather goods, where 90 years of heritage and the world's most demanding luxury standards converge. A prototype Casual Tote in painted calf and ostrich skin is produced. The bag sells.
2021
'By Dapper' trademark registered with the UK Intellectual Property Office. The brand's intellectual property formally protected.
2023
Ubrique atelier prototypes the first aso oke leather piece — a fusion of traditional Yoruba hand-woven fabric with European craft finishing. A product that has never existed before. The Africa platform begins to take shape.
2026
David Jacob by Dapper re-launches.

Every David Jacob shoe is made in Ubrique — a mountain town in Andalusia, southern Spain, that has been quietly producing the leather goods that appear in the world's most recognised luxury houses for nearly a century. The artisans there do not make shoes as a trade. They make them as a continuation of what their grandparents began.
GOODYEAR WELTED CONSTRUCTION
The oldest and most durable method of shoe construction. Stitched — not glued. The sole is sewn to a welt that runs around the entire shoe, creating a shoe that is resoleable, weatherproof, and built to last decades rather than seasons.
HAND-PAINTED PATINA
Every pair is individually finished at our patina workshop — not sprayed, not processed, but worked by a craftsman who treats colour as a medium. Colour applied by hand never lands twice the same way. No two pairs are identical. They cannot be.
